What makes a cover letter land
A good cover letter is short, specific, and clearly about this job rather than any job. It connects two or three real things you have done to what the role needs, in your own voice, without the throat-clearing and cliches that make most letters interchangeable. The hiring manager is skimming, so the first line has to earn the second.
This tool gives you a grounded first draft fast, built from your actual CV, so you are editing rather than staring at a blank page. The draft deliberately avoids the tells of AI writing, but the final pass should always be yours: trim anything that overclaims and make sure it sounds like a person you would want to hire.
How it works
- 01Upload your CV as a PDF or Word file, or paste the text. It is read in your browser and never uploaded.
- 02Optionally paste the job description and choose a tone. With a job description, the letter is tailored to the role; without one, it draws a strong general letter from your CV.
- 03Read the draft, edit any paragraph in place, pick a template, and download it as PDF or Word.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I need a job description?
- No. The tool works from your CV alone and will produce a solid general letter. Paste a job description when you have one and the letter is tailored to that specific role, connecting your real experience to what the posting asks for. Adding the company and the hiring manager's name makes it more specific again.
- Will the letter sound like a robot wrote it?
- It is written to avoid that. The draft is instructed to use a plain human voice, three to four short paragraphs, one claim per sentence, and to ban the tired phrases that mark AI writing. You should still read it, edit it in place here, and make sure it sounds like you before you send it.
- Is it grounded in my actual CV?
- Yes. The letter is drafted from the text of your CV, so the claims it makes trace back to your real experience rather than generic filler. It will not invent employers, titles, or achievements you do not have. If something reads as too strong, edit it down before downloading.
- Is anything uploaded or stored?
- Your CV file is parsed entirely in your browser and never uploaded. Only the extracted text and any job description are sent to the AI step, which is rate-limited and does not store your content. Close the tab and the draft is gone.
