UX researcher resume template

This UX researcher resume template is ATS-safe because it uses plain text, standard headings, quantified bullets, and simple contact details. It is role-specific by foregrounding usability testing, qualitative interviews, survey design, research synthesis, research operations, and decisions that research shaped rather than generic insight claims.

  • Ran 60 usability sessions and 3 diary studies that reprioritised the roadmap toward two high-value flows.
  • Designed and analysed a 2,400-respondent survey that quantified trust barriers in checkout, informing a redesign.
  • Built a research repository in Dovetail that cut insight retrieval time for designers by 44%.
  • Partner with product, design, and data to convert findings into shipped changes and tracked outcomes.

Adapting this template for UX researcher applications

Adapt by widening your method range as you rise. Early-career researchers should show rigorous execution of a few methods, the way the Civic Lab role covers recruitment, contextual inquiry, and thematic coding across ninety transcripts. Mid-level researchers add study design ownership and mixed methods. Senior applicants need the Wayfinder pattern: research that moved a roadmap, a large-sample survey feeding a redesign, and infrastructure like the repository, because senior research is judged on organisational influence rather than study count.

Research screeners verify method breadth first, checking that qualitative and quantitative vocabulary both appear, then look for the influence trail. Sixty sessions mean little on their own; sessions that reprioritised a roadmap toward two flows mean everything, which is why each bullet here ends in a product consequence. Sample sizes and study counts also get scanned because they signal rigour and pace, so state them plainly: respondent counts, interview volume, transcript numbers.

The filters for this role: findings described without decisions, which suggests research that was interesting rather than useful; method name-dropping with no visible analysis step, since turning raw sessions into findings is where researchers earn their keep; and no operational awareness. Recruitment, consent, and repository work appear in this sample because research that cannot be found or repeated dies quietly. Avoid presenting satisfaction scores you did not design or analyse as personal outcomes; reviewers check that attribution.

ATS notes for UX researcher

  • Use research keywords such as usability testing, interviews, survey design, synthesis, and journey mapping.
  • Quantify research impact with study volume, sample size, support reduction, and retrieval-time savings.
  • Show how findings changed the roadmap or design, not just the number of studies run.
  • List both qualitative and quantitative methods so mixed-method screens match the resume.
  • Keep tools and methods in plain text rather than embedded charts or research artefacts.

UX researcher resume questions

How do I prove research impact when designers made the changes?

Trace the chain explicitly. The sample's interview bullet surfaces two billing-comprehension changes and then credits the 17% support-call reduction that followed, keeping the researcher's contribution honest and visible. Influence is the researcher's outcome: state what the team decided differently because of your evidence, and let shared credit strengthen rather than weaken the claim.

Should a UX researcher resume include quantitative skills?

Yes, and specifically survey design and analysis at minimum. Mixed-method postings now dominate, and a purely qualitative resume gets filtered from them. This template pairs diary studies and interviews with a 2,400-respondent survey to show both modes. If statistics are a gap, showing structured analysis like thematic coding at scale still helps.

Do participant numbers really matter on a research resume?

They matter as evidence of rigour and throughput, not as trophies. Ninety transcripts coded, sixty usability sessions, and a large survey tell a reviewer you have operated research at pace and can size a study to a question. Always pair the number with what it fed; volume without consequence reads as busywork.
